The October 2009 Commencement address for the Nazarene Theological College, Manchester, England. The theme of the address focuses on the need, pain and gift of tenacity, building on St. Paul’s words in Colossians 4:17 to Archippus, “Do not walk away from the assignment God gives to you.” The real test of a person’s character is what it takes to stop her or him. The temptation to quit our assignments when the pressure is on is discussed. The address concludes with reflections on tenacity and contentment – a profound gift from God to us and in us.
